for Lydia.

This weekend Jennifer and I planned to take pictures of her and her girls. We mainly took them for her sister Lydia, who is in Honduras being a student missionary for a year. She can do whatever she wants with them though. :) We tried to get together Sabbath afternoon but naps happened and so we decided to try again Sunday evening. Well right when were ready it started sprinkling. We were really excited about the rain, it's desperately needed but kinda ruined our pictures. I got a few though! The girls did really well, I just needed someone to help me make Evalynn smile! I'm not great at that kind of thing. The expression she has in every picture is very typical though, and is pretty much the cutest thing.

I really like the red barn background but the twins had friends over and they were playing in the yard. That definitely had the girls distracted so we moved.

Lovely ladies! :)

Soooo cute! Evalynn loves giving kisses and it was even cuter in person. :)

We are going to try again soon! Maybe when it isn't raining and add some pets to the pictures. Hope you enjoy this Miss Lydia! If you have any requests just let me know! We miss you and pray for you everyday! :)

inspiration.

This is so inspiring to me. I listen to it pretty much everyday (I have the whole cd on my ipad). It brings me back from self-absorbed freak outs (school...) and humbles me. I could have just posted the words but I get more out of it when I just listen. Don't read the words just listen.

rough.

So... I had a rough weekend. There were some good parts though! Instead of studying all day Sunday I spent part of the morning outside planting flowers and cleaning up the yard a little bit.

Emma helped me, or soaked me... (her hair is really wild and yes the porch needs painted badly ha it's on my to do list that never got done this summer) Gus was there too and he pretty much just needed to sit on top of me, he is such a great help. My mom and nanny were there too.
There is nothing like being outside to make me happy and forget my troubles.

I have a histology quiz/test tomorrow so I guess I should study.

random.

I was just looking at some pics on my phone and wanted to upload a few. That means this is going to be really random, but all these things are very important.

I got a decal for my car that tells the world I am a vet student. I love it! Please ignore my dirty car .
I also got my mom one that says "Proud Parent of an OSU Vet Med Student." It's much smaller and just goes in the corner of the window. I didn't get one for my dad's truck because in about an hour of it being on there it would probably be covered in chicken manure or something lovely like that.

I got a 15/15 on an anatomy quiz. Yes, I did take a picture of it and immediately send it to Kody. It is probably the only time that it will ever happen. I also considered putting it on my fridge but decided against it. If it was a test though, that sucker would have been on there the minute I got home!

This is my planner for the month of September. As you can probably tell, I'm very happy to welcome October. Although October looks pretty crazy too. Not everything written on there is a test but over half is and a lot of meetings! I have been busy.
Sorry this was so random. As you can tell these things are very important. ha Now I'm going to stop wasting time and get back to studying so maybe I can do something fun again this weekend. :)

P.S. random question: how do I get a border around my pictures?? It is driving me crazy!

birthing center.

First off... Sunday was Jamie's wedding and I didn't get to go to the actual wedding because I worked at the Tulsa State Fair Birthing Center. I have seen a few pictures and it looks like it was just a perfect day! I'm so happy for them and wish them a very happy life together! :)

So now to the birthing center. Maybe we should add the word animal birthing center. Haha some people have got a bit confused on that. No, we did not put humans giving birth on display. :)

Warning: There are going to be a lot of pictures in this blog but these babies were so cute and I had such a great time!

Piglets born just about an hour before this picture. So cute!
"Please get these babies out of me!!!"

Observing, not sure what we are supposed to be doing.

Dr. Evans with a squealing piglet. They would not stop squealing so we quickly moved on to the baby goats.

Dr. O'bryan! :)

Showing off a baby piglet.

There are 5 farrowing crates. The mirrors are so that the crowd can see everything!

Demonstrating the position the babies are in when they come out.

This goat had triplets! She just popped them right out. She was a really great momma . The vet and tech cut and tied off the umbilical cord and covered it with some iodine.

Yes, she is eating the placenta. I know it's gross but it's a natural thing to keep prey away in the wild!

Waiting for the sheep to give birth.

Still waiting...

Checking things out...

Too cute!

She finally popped out a black little lamb. :)

Lots of baby piglets!

They also did spay and neuters but we weren't a part of that. Have to wait until 3rd year but I think the goats were way more fun anyway.

Baby Chicks.

I had a great time! My shoulders were a little sore the next day from holding the baby goats  all afternoon. It was like holding a sleeping baby for 4 hours. The people had a lot of questions and it was a lot of fun talking about something I love. People have no idea about farm animals. Most were really interested, and I think this is a really great educational tool for the veterinary profession. It really helps show people what we do as veterinarians.

Sabbath.

Well my test is over so I can relax a little. This weekend I headed to Arkansas to see friends coming for Jamie and Andrew's wedding, and of course see Kody. I didn't actually get to go to the wedding because I worked at the birthing center at the fair. More about that later.

Sabbath was a gorgeous day! We went to church at Springtown and I got to see a lot of people I don't get to see very often. Cousin Elizabeth was down for the wedding, so we chatted for a little bit after church. I hadn't seen her in a long time. Sabbath afternoon Kody and I headed over to the Netzels to meet Cooper, Jordan and Michelle's dog. We played with him for awhile but somehow I took no pictures. ( I know, it's crazy!) We hung out at the house for awhile, and swapped school horror stories. :) They headed to a birthday party so Kody and I hung out at his house for a little while. His mom took a few pictures of us then the real fun began. ha

Kody headed out with the guys and I headed to the salon to meet up with the girls. Jamie and her girls got their nails done, while Michelle and I entertained them. Well it was actually more like Michelle entertaining and I was there for moral support. ha We had a good time though. After getting their nails done we headed to Lora's to play some bachelorette games. It was a lot of fun and I'm glad I got to be there! It was great talking to Lora and Michelle after the party was over. I definitely miss those ladies... We have had some great times together and they are like sisters to me. Somehow, I didn't get a picture with either of them. I guess we are always behind the camera and never remember to get one of ourselves.

Sabbath really was a great day! I am blessed with some really great friends. Even if we don't see each other every day, or get to talk very often we can always start back right where we left off.

[Insert picture that was never taken because my brain is filled with school and can't remember normal things]

stay tuned.

I have a lot of fun, maybe gross to some people, things to post about! :) But these pictures and stories will have to wait until after 9 am tomorrow. I have a physiology test at 8 am that I haven't studied much for because I was doing to many fun things this weekend. So I'm mentally preparing for an evening/night of cramming about autonomic and muscular physiology. yay! Well I better get started. Pray for me in the morning and check back tomorrow for a weekend update. :)
