lovely weekend. Part 2.

Sunday Amber and Leslie joined us at the farm. We made applesauce and toured the farm and did fun "farmy" things.

Work is way more fun when you have friends to share it with.

Brett and Emma got tired of helping us and went out to play with the dogs. They had them all on leashes, including Piper. At one point we looked out the window and the dogs were practically dragging them by. It would have been a hilarious picture but everyone's hands were sticky. 

 We took a little break while the apples were cooking, and headed over to the farm to check things out.

Dad joined our tour to fill in the gaps of info I didn't know/couldn't remember.

 After our tour we came back to work on applesauce some more and visit the horses. We took some of the apple peels and cores out to them.

Gus is a little weird and eats everything. He ate a lot of apple cores. I'm surprised he didn't get a tummy ache.

Amber put poor Gussy in a box... he wasn't to thrilled.

That afternoon we headed out with Robert and Grandma to see some cows. Robert has been doing a lot of work on my Grandma's land and it is really looking nice. He brought an extra 4-wheeler out so we could ride around. Amber and Julie had never ridden on a 4-wheeler before so it was a lot of fun.

Robert showed us the barn, pens, and chute he built. He is proud of it and he deserves to be. I am impressed! I did give him one idea he was going to change though. ;)

We had a lot of fun. We introduced the girls to some new food as well, haystacks and peanut butter, applesauce toast. 2 of my favorite foods! I think they liked them. :) We also went on a wild goose chase for Gus and Piper. They disappeared for awhile. I gave Julie a heart attack on the 4-wheeler because I was in a hurry. I also didn't know she had never ridden on one before. ha But we found Gus way out in the pasture and Jake found Piper and brought her back (literally) I have the best dogs, except for when Gus wanders off and Jake finds skunks. 

I'm sure I have forgotten something because we did so much. But I hope they all had fun because I certainly enjoyed having them over. Also, all of this really made me ready for Thanksgiving when everyone will be home! :) I miss having people around to do stuff with.

lovely weekend.

Soo... as I said before, last week was midterms and things got crazy. So this weekend I had some fun! I'm going to divide this into 2 posts because we did so much I have a million pictures to share. Macy was home, and my friend Julie came home with me on Friday evening. I'm so glad she was able to come. :)

Julie brought her puppy along so when got home we let the dogs play and get to know each other. Gus and Jake were very uncertain of Piper's "puppiness." But Piper pretty much had the time of her life. Friday night Macy and I serenaded Julie for a long time. Poor Julie probably thought we were some kind of crazy people. But we like to sing on Friday night's. (and it's a good thing we "practiced"because special music didn't show up for church so Macy and I were volunteered.) 

Sabbath morning we got up and went to church then headed home for some outside fun. It was a gorgeous day and we took full advantage of it. Gus got another bath and we played with the dogs for awhile. Then we headed to the farm to climb the grain elevator.

There are 2 different levels and the highest one had a lot of wasps around it for some reason. They were weird looking insects. Like a cross between a bee and a wasp.

After climbing the grain elevator. Julie and I headed to Ernie and Sharon's house to see all there babies and other animals.  We went on an equine "safari" as Julie calls it. :) We ran out of time to ride so she will just have to come back soon. ;)

They like there butt scratched. If you try to pet them around there head/neck area, they whip there butt around for you to scratch.

We headed out in the Kubota "tour bus"to see the donkeys and some more mules and horses.

They pretty much just surround you if you stop. Even once they realize you have no food.

 We headed home for a bonfire and mini hayride. We passed a stormchaser, which I'm pretty sure completely freaked Julie out but I tried to reassure her we were fine and that my dad was practically a weather man and would have called me if we were in danger. ha

We had planned to have a bonfire and mini hayride that evening with family but it started raining as soon as we all got there.

But we moved in the barn and it was still a lot of fun. We sang a lot of songs that I hadn't sang in ages. It definitely took me back and was a lot of fun.

yep! It was yummy! Homemade caramel apples, all different flavors of popcorn :), hot dogs, homemade apple cider (amazing!!) homemade pickles (yum), and smores.

Sabbath was a perfect day. The weather was amazing and it was great to just relax and spend time with family and friends. 

I'm going to work on a post for Sunday, which was another very fun filled day, but it takes a while to get all the pictures uploaded so check back for that. :) It involves cows, applesauce, four-wheelers and more family and friends.

midterms.

I'm in the middle of midterms. actually almost done... so I will post an update on my fall break soon. but i didn't want people to think I had already given up on keeping up with this blog. :)

pause.

I'm on fall break. I'm home! We aren't really calling this a break though... it's a pause. ha I have big plans for break.

1. Haircut at 11 in the morning.
2. Buy a wedding gift for the Short's.
3. Buy a baby gift for baby Rylan.
4. Get a pedicure with my mom.
5. Clean my bathroom and room.
6. Study for an anatomy test on Monday, Phys test on Wednesday that will determine my grade for my first  class of vet school.
7. Ride a horse. I say A horse because I really want to ride one of my horses but I'm slightly afraid of hurting myself. So maybe I will ride Robert's new horse or something. The weather is just to perfect not to ride a horse.
8. Find something to do to a cow. I need some major motivation or something to refocus me. I'm so stinkin' tired of studying my life away and still just barely passing. Maybe I will just palpate my horse. ha
9. Rest. I'm way burned out. It's not good. Just to much is going on right now in my life (besides school) I'm not sure how much longer I can handle all of it. I plan on doing a lot of relaxing and getting stuff worked out.

I'm ready for Thanksgiving. Even though I will be studying a lot for finals coming up a week or two after, I will get to see family and do some fun stuff. Next weekend I actually get a little break. The girls are coming to the farm and we are gonna make applesauce and do some fun farmy stuff. :)

I remembered on my way home today that I never really said anything about last weekend. I pretty much  did everything at church. Luke and I did special music for Sabbath School and Church. I ended up being the chorister because my mom was scheduled to play the piano and be chorister. I taught Sabbath School. I actually enjoy being involved though. I think you gotta get involved to really get the blessing. :) This week I plan on sitting back and enjoying though. You just never know though... ha

I will let you know how many things I get checked off my list tomorrow. :)

cupcakes.

So... this actually happened about a week ago, but things get crazy and I almost forgot to blog it! It is definitely blog worthy. 

Amber invited us over to make pioneer woman carrot cake cupcakes. We decided to have this little party after a big test when we had a few test free days. I didn't have my camera because we went straight from school so these are all with Amber's camera. 

Amber supposedly had never made a cake or cupcakes so we walked her through it.  It was quite entertaining!

It was a really great break from school and we plan on doing it again soon! I have been blessed with some really great friends. :)

equine.

Today I had equine lab. It was just super exciting! (that's sarcasm) We had to pick up a front leg and back leg and wrap a leg. It was rough! ha Okay, I know that it is really cool to a lot of people, but I have done those things a million times. :) It is really cool to see the people who have never done something with a horse get to interact with one. I actually was the weird girl that took her camera to lab ( so did Julie so I wasn't alone) today but I didn't actually take any pics. It just wasn't that exciting. We did do some physical exam stuff that I do need to practice. Hearing different lung sounds and stuff. It was nice to be around horses though. I will definitely be riding this weekend!! The weather is just so perfect. 

During lunch I went over to the large animal hospital for rounds. They had some really unique cases so they invited us all over. It was way cool. (haha way cool? sorry) They had a show heifer that they think had stepped in a drain pipe that the cover had come off of. They think she must have got stuck and struggled to get out so she had a broken hindlimb. Her tibia was completely displaced from her tarsal bones. The radiographs were pretty crazy! (it's also really fun that I actually knew what I was looking at on those radiographs.) Anyway, they had to put her under general anesthesia then make an incision in her leg and put the bone back in place because there was a tendon or ligament keeping it from moving back on it's own. The neat part was her cast. I don't even know how to explain it but it was like a metal bar that connected to the front of her hoof, looped up over her rump and then connected to the back of her hoof with baling wire. It also looped all the way around her leg at the top. (of course I was so amazed I didn't take a pic) It was casted like normal after that. She was putting weight on it and everything. She basically just pivoted on it though. They said she can move around but it's hard to move that thing. That probably made no sense but it was really neat! 

On another note... I am done with my physiology I class, sorta! All we have to do is take our last exam next Wednesday. That means I will have finished my first class of vet school! :) It also means I don't have class in the morning. So, I only have to go to anatomy lab tomorrow afternoon and then I'm on fall break!!!! Wahoooooo! We get one day... and we have midterms next week so it won't really be a break from studying but at least I don't have to go to class on Friday. I plan to get my haircut and get a pedicure! I'm really excited. 

Moving right along, I know my blogging is really random but I just think of things as I go through my day that I think are exciting or might be entertaining to read in the future. So please bare with the randomness and the major grammar errors. I don't even read back over these things. I'm sure it's more entertaining that way. ha
