Remember me?

A lot has happened since I left this little blog. Life got crazy busy with vet school. But I made it and I'm kind of sad I didn't document all the crazy things that happened so I'm determined to keep up with it again.

I also got engaged. I don't think I've blogged anything since Zach came in to my life so I will have to up date a little on that later.

So much is happening around here. It's summertime and we have been flooding left and right. Sooo much rain! We are remodeling the farm house, planning a wedding, planning a wedding shower for cousin Emily and trying to work a little on the side. My goal is to keep up with things and slowly get this thing updated!

intentional.

I don't really know where to start. I could start with excuses as to why I haven't kept up with this blog but I don't really have a good one. I could start by trying to fill in the empty spaces and stories that I haven't told but that would be overwhelming. So I will start with the reason I have decided to make an intentional effort to tell me stories here again.

A couple weeks ago a friend contacted me about prepping for her vet school interview. I remembered a few things but really couldn't recall most of the day I had my interview. (It was only 3 years ago. I know, sad.) Thankfully I had written about it on this blog and could easily go back and read all about it. It was so fun to go back and remember all that was happening around that time in my life. I have a pretty terrible memory when it comes to the little things in life and so it's really nice to be able to go back and read about all the little events that have shaped the life I live today.

So, it may just be a few short lines but I am really going to make an intentional effort to record the little things that go on in my corner of the world.

This week I had a family of skunks move in under my house. I have never smelled anything like it. They sprayed a lot! It didn't even smell like a skunk it was soooo strong. Then my heater quit working and Cooper rolled in some kind of animal poop while he was playing outside. This all happened within about 12 hours. I might have shed a few tears when Cooper came in, covered in poop. I was mainly just really frustrated with my landlord.

It really wasn't a bad week just a little overwhelming.

But Sabbath started with this sky and I have so many things to be thankful for.

Waterin'

A couple weeks ago we went on an adventure to find mud. We didn't find mud but we did find muddy water. And lots of it! We took the window off the gator so we all got pretty soaked and I about froze to death. There wasn't a dry inch of clothes on me. But, as you can tell by the following pictures, we all had a blast!

These first few are taken with my phone. Love my Lifeproof case. :)

And the rest are taken with Adam's GoPro!

I've also got some pretty hilarious videos but I can't seem to get them to upload!

If you can't tell from the pictures, we had so much fun! I am so thankful for a family that will go out and do crazy things with me. Life would be pretty boring without you guys. :)

A. Fisher and Co.

Andrew, Adam and I did special music for church this last Sabbath. Andrew and I practiced a little the night before but last minute we decided we needed another guitar so Andrew could play his ganjo. So... Sabbath morning I asked Adam to play with us. Talk about last minute. Ha! We practiced for about 10 minutes between sabbath school and church. We messed up but we had so much fun! We are adding this to our repertoire for campmeeting and hoping to recruit a few more people to our "band". ;)

P.S. Thanks for the band name Emily!

Third Year.

  • I now know how to properly remove eyeballs, teeth, ovaries and testicles. Watch out world!  (I am not a fan of pulling teeth! Yuck!)
  • I have palpated lots of cows and actually know what I'm doing now. Anybody need some cows preg checked? :)
  • We are smack dab in the middle of the theriogenology class. I have a love/hate relationship with it. I love the information but there is a lot of it! If only I didn't have other classes to study for as well...
  • I can do a lameness exam on your horse plus put in urinary and IV catheters.
  • I anesthetized my first patient Friday. She survived and I survived. (I was a little stressed about it but it was actually pretty fun.)
  • I have studied lots and lots. I have more free time in the afternoons though so I have been able to keep my weekend studying to a minimum.
  • But most of all this semester has been fun! Much more hands on and I actually feel like I'm learning something worthwhile and putting the past 2 years of studying to use.

We Went to the Lake.

Things are finally starting to slow down around here and I'm soaking up my last few weeks of freedom and trying to get things ready for school.

So much fun has been had this summer that I don't even know where to start! So, I'm just gonna work backwards. Last Thursday Adam, Lexy and I got adventurous. We had been wanting to go to the lake but my dad is really busy this time of year and it never worked out for him to go. Soooo... we went without him. Just us kids! I felt a little old... but that's another story. Thank goodness nothing broke down. Of course we got so brave because Howard was their with his boat and all of Kenny's family, so we weren't completely alone.

We had so much fun! Even if I didn't even get in the water once. The water was perfect and it was just us there.

John and Elisa joined us for a little while.

Adam worked on his backroll.

I guess being a grown up isn't so bad sometimes. :)

Thunder Game!

We took Adam to a Thunder game for his birthday about a week ago and I have been so busy running back and forth that I almost forgot to post about it. It was so much fun and worth all the driving!

My parents had seats on the opposite side of the court. Adam and I got to sit by some very interesting guys... haha

We were up in the nose bleeds but there really aren't any bad seats. The arena isn't that big.

My mom got Adam's name put on the big screen during halftime for his birthday. He was pretty excited and surprised when his name came up. And of course the picture turned out terrible. I had my phone ready but it wouldn't focus on the light of the screen...

Oh! And... my boyfriend was there! Last year during the finals one of the interviewers for TNT just really amazed with all his different suits, so Lexy and Macy started calling him my boyfriend. He wasn't wearing anything too crazy this night but it is a blue plaid suit. (Hard to tell in the picture)

And the Thunder won! It was a really great game against the Spurs and the win put them back in first place!

We ended up getting home a little after 1 in the morning and I had to get up about 6:30 to head to Stillwater for class. I do not do well on 5 hours of sleep, to say the least. ha It was all worth it though!
