Adam's 8th Grade Graduation.

My baby Cousin graduated from the 8th grade this week.

So serious...
When he was younger he used to say he was going to marry me, and there was no convincing him otherwise.

I just needed to tell the fact.

I remember the day he was born. I'm getting old...

Congratulations Adam!!!

{Please excuse the terrible pictures I was totally unprepared. ha}

Easter Weekend.

I haven't been a very good blogger lately. Honestly, I just don't have much to say. This weekend I picked more asparagus. I'm pretty sure I have eaten asparagus for every meal, besides breakfast, lately. I only picked Friday and for about an hour Sunday though.
I planted my garden on Friday as well. Everyone always asks why I have a garden if I work in a big garden all summer. "Aren't you tired of it?!" Well not really... my garden is small enough that I don't really have to do a whole lot but watch things grow and then I can have as many tomatoes as I want. ;)

I planted 11 tomato plants, 2 jalapeno plants, 2 sweet banana pepper plants (we love them on sandwiches), basil and some kind of weird spicy basil that I'm testing out. I also planted sunflower seeds and am planning on planting some green beans in the empty spot in the middle. Oh, and I planted a blueberry and raspberry bush this year. We will see how that turns out. :) The lavender and rosemary have been growing for a few years and they smell quite lovely. Now I'm just waiting for things to grow.

I also went to the Chiropractor on Friday and he was pretty amazed at how out of align my neck was. He fixed me up but my neck was so sore on Saturday that I was pretty much down for the count. It is soooo much better now though! My mom bought me the movie "We Bought A Zoo" so I watched that. Loved it!! I need a zoo now...

My little cousins, Aunt and grandparents were at our house this weekend for Easter. Sunday we colored and hunted eggs!

Adam

Some of the finished product!
We started to hide the eggs for the kids and I quickly realized we had a problem. Gus was going to eat them all if he could reach them. I spent the rest of the time trying to distract him and I feel like I said "Gus, NO!!" about 100 times. It was kinda humorous though.

He was determined! Yes, Brett is wearing Macy's Muck boots. He only face dived twice. ha

They were having a blast.
I took pictures of some of the flowers in the yard while I was distracting Gus.

Snowball bush in full bloom. I don't know what it is technically called...

Someday I will get a picture of him that is not blurry, but they are entertaining through the blur.

See that egg?! Yep, he ate at least half a dozen. Even though I was trying to keep an eye on him.
He also led the kids to many eggs. They just had to get them before he did.

Worn out from all the hunting.
Gus doesn't hold still very often... no typical basset.

Seriously, they had a blast playing. See that white blur? That's Cooper, he never stopped and Gus likes to take breaks and roll around on the grass.

Cooper was a mess and he isn't supposed to have a bath for a week because of his surgery. He got his feet washed though. He was feeling back to normal!

Jake didn't want to hang out with us. He got bored and went and laid out in the sun so I don't have many pictures of him.

I know there are more pictures of the dogs than people but I spent my time entertaining the dogs and, after all, they are my kids.

I also spent a small amount of time trying to study but wasn't very productive so I should go do that now.

I hope everyone had a blessed Easter and remembered the real reason for the holiday, that Christ died and rose again so that we may be saved!

Homeless Shelter

I'm still alive and I have lots to blog about just not a lot of time! I have been really busy the past few days and have got to do some fun stuff. I'm back at school now and am NOT excited about it. I'm pretty burnt out. Sad, I just had a break and I'm still having a hard time studying. I think it should be against school policy to have a test a day after spring break. I have one on Thursday as well but at least I have all week to study for it. Anyway, on to happier things.

Saturday, a small group of us went to the Day Center in Tulsa. We had a really good time and it was nice to get out and do something to help people.

{I think I need to just start every blog post off with "Warning: picture overload"}

We started the morning off by handing out a snack we had brought. I never knew that eating at 9 am was considered snack time but that's when we did it.

We made some juice and gave them all Nutrigrain bars. (We had to consider that most of them have no teeth when choosing what to bring)

I didn't bring my camera in at first so these were taken with my phone.

My mom bought Tang for us to serve. I hadn't seen this stuff in years!

It was pretty entertaining because after the people came through and got a bar and drink they would come back through like it was a whole other day to get some extra. We didn't mind because we had plenty and eventually they figured that out and just asked for another.

After we gave out the snack, we headed to the laundry room. They have a small clothing "store" and we spent most of our time putting clothes out and organizing them into sizes. The shelves were a mess.

Dad and Luke. Not quite they are used to doing on mission trips but they were good sports. :)

We also put shampoo and conditioner in little ziploc baggies for one time use. They have showers there for people and they can give them small amounts of stuff to use for each shower.

They had an assembly line going.

Lexy, Julie and I stuck with the clothes pretty much the whole time and we found some very stylish interesting things.

The man told us to throw out anything we wouldn't wear... well that was kind of the majority of it.

Lexy found this totally awesome, handmade sweater. The different textures that you can't see in the picture are what really made it special.
I tried to convince her to keep it for next winter...

I actually found these but Julie modeled them for us... aren't they awesome?!

All joking aside, we had a great time! Hopefully what little we did was helpful!

After we finished at the shelter, we headed to Woodward park for  a picnic. It was one yummy picnic! Pretty much everything we had was homegrown and from the farm. :) (minus a few things)

Woodward Park is a gorgeous place and we spent the afternoon walking around looking at all the flowers and enjoying God's nature.

The azaleas are already starting to bloom and they are beautiful!

Cousins!

We couldn't have asked for a better day! The sun was shining and it was nice and warm! It was so nice to get out and do something for others and I felt like God returned the favor by giving us a perfect afternoon. :)

I'm linking up with Kerrie today!
