Canoeing Adventure.

Warning: Picture overload. But it's worth it.

Let me just say my spring break has started off with a bang. We went on quite an adventure yesterday afternoon and I'm just happy that I can still move my arms today.

After church we decided to float down the river that runs by our house. It's called the Little Deep Fork river and it runs into the Big Deep Fork River (it's actually just called the Deep Fork river I learned, but I don't care. That is what I call it to keep 'em straight). The Busby's land is on the Big Deep Fork river so we were going to float to there house. I'm going to say it was about 100 miles. Oh, and you gotta keep all that little and big stuff straight.

The afternoon started with this weirdly cool tree and by the end of the evening it felt like it had been a totally different day that I took this picture.

We had 2 kayaks and 4 canoes.

It started off with smooth waters and lovely scenery.

Then this happened, and I put my camera away for awhile. You can't really see but there are rocks there. Poor Kenny and Jason were the first to get soaked.

I didn't actually get that wet. Just my feet and tail end. My tail got wet because I had to hit the bottom of the canoe when Adam tried to take my head off with a tree limb and because I fell off my seat while trying to escape the creek monster gar.

Elisa and I got attacked saw 2 HUGE sharks gar. We both screamed quite loudly. They would just start flopping around by our canoe. No thank you. Get away from me.

The Little Deep Fork didn't have a whole lot of water in it so it was pretty shallow a lot of the way. We had to get out and drag the canoe or "scoot" through it. My tailbone is very sore today.

It really was a lovely day though.

Cousin Adam got tired of being in a kayak with a one sided paddle, so he switched with Elisa for awhile. I'm sure he wishes he would have stuck with the kayak... He decided he was going to be in the back, which means he had control of where we went. He would say, "hey Allyson, look at this dirt." and I would yell, "Adam" right before we ran into a tree. It was cousin bonding time.

Sorry about the blur. My camera wasn't on the right setting. He wouldn't smile anyway.
We stopped at this lovely redbud for a snack. Apparently you can eat the blooms. Learn something new everyday.

This is what we did pretty much the whole time. Try and make our way through trees and debri across the river. This is what made it an adventure. It was quite a maze at times.

We finally made it to the big deep fork. It was a glorious site. Seriously. I was starting to go a little crazy. Saying things like true dat, peeps, we got a lotta water up in her'. Oh, and I couldn't stop talking. Poor Elisa. My blood sugar was low okay. I was hungry.

Rejoicing. I know, I look totally excited. Again, sorry for the blur. I was having issues.

Grand Canyon!

We made it back just as it got completely dark. Then we got the truck stuck in the mud. But they had yummy food awaiting us.

Then they watched a 3D movie and I fell asleep on the couch.

It really was a lot of fun. Now that is over I can say that. I can also say that it is an adventure I probably won't be participating in again. :)

It's Finally Arrived!

Spring Break!! Wahoo!! (Name that show ha)

I took my last test this morning and went to lunch with my girlfriends before heading home.

I spent the afternoon mowing our yard and my grandma's yard. It was so nice to be outside (even if my dad is hauling manure) and not think about school. Plus, mowing is one of my favorite things to do. I know, weird. ha

I have some fun plans for spring break and a long list of to do's plus study for the 2 tests I have the week after break. I will keep you posted on the happenings around here. It should be a little different than the usual. :)

I got big plans people!

Family and Friends.

So, I'm starting to get a little discouraged. Vet school is hard. No matter how much I study I rarely get an A on a test which has been an adjustment for me. It's frustrating! Anyway, I have one test left and I am just praying that the test I took this morning went better than I felt like it did. Just one more test though. I haven't studied for it all so the next 10 hours or so will be spent cramming pathology terms into my tired little brain.

I am so thankful for my friends and family though. They keep me going! They are all so supportive and I am just so thankful for each and everyone of them.

My parents have sacrificed so much for me and are so supportive of everything I do. Even though I come home every weekend my mom still sends me cards in the mail every once in awhile that always seem to come at just the right time and say exactly what I need to hear. This one is my favorite right now. It came in the mail a few weeks ago and it is still so very true. I read it at least once a day.

Sometimes I read it and cry, sometimes I read it and smile but every time I read it, I am encouraged.

I remind myself everyday that God got me here, He isn't going to forget about me now. He will help me pass these tests/classes I just have to trust Him and have faith.

My parents are the absolute best!

My family is soooo important to me and I am so fortunate to get to go home every weekend and be encouraged by them. I know that they all pray for me so much and knowing that keeps me going. They are the best!

My friends are always there to listen, help me remember to have a good time every once in awhile, and are always sending me encouraging notes. I am so thankful for the friends that God has put in my life. I may not be the best at keeping in touch but no matter how long it has been since we talked, we can always pick up where we left off.

I am thankful for every one of my bloggy friends as well. You ladies are so encouraging and I am truly enjoying getting to know each and every one of you.

I am so blessed.

Spring!

Today is another full day of studying for me and all I'm saying is that I'm ready to pull my hair out.

Continuing with the thankful theme this week (in an effort to keep myself sane with all the studying). I am thankful for spring! The weather has been unusually warm, the sun is shining, the flowers are blooming and the grass is turning green again. I love it!

I need to get back to studying but here are some pictures I have accumulated already of spring around the farm this year. :)

One of my favorites... Daffodils!

Peach blossom.
I think this is a pear blossom but I'm not sure.... I get them all mixed up. ha
Sunshine and green wheat!
2 tests stand between me and spring break, and sun, and less studying! :)

Cooper.

I just finished my 2nd test out of 4 this week. I think it went really well! The sun is shining and it is 80 degrees outside. I have my windows open, dug out my shorts and am now ready to start studying for the next test, immunology.

Today, I am thankful for Cooper. He is one of the sweetest and best dogs I have ever been around. He loves to snuggle, is only hyper for a few minutes and then he is ready to go back to sleep, and he is the best company anyone could ask for.

Seriously though, even people who don't like animals, love Cooper. Jacob, Macy's boyfriend, does not like animals and he was ready to take Cooper back to school with them.

He burps really loud, like a baby, every time he gets a drink. It makes me laugh everytime. Sometimes I have a hard time studying because he will snuggle up in my arms and I just can't put him down. He is seriously like a little baby, except I can leave him in my apartment by himself. ha

He weighs 5 pounds and his hair is super, soft and fluffy which makes him all the more cuddly.

He loves it when people talk to him. He will tilt his head back and forth like he is really trying to figure out what in the world you are saying.

Don't get me wrong, I love my other 2 dogs just as much. It's just that Cooper comes back to my apartment with me every week. My apartment isn't big enough for the other two. It's barely big enough for Cooper.

Cooper came into my life at just the right time and I love him to pieces. He is definitely my baby!

Enjoy the sunshine for me!

Birthdays.

This weekend my sister and her boyfriend came to visit. They are on spring break! Cooper and I picked them up at the airport on Thursday afternoon and then Friday they went shopping while I studied. When they got back we took a few pictures. The dogs wanted to be in them so badly...

Not the best of Jacob but just look at Jake. He was determined to sit right there. ha
I have decided I'm not good at taking pictures of people. I don't know what to do with them. My dogs, plants or anything else is stationary and I don't have to pose them. And it can be awkward taking pictures of people. Anyway, here are a few cute ones.

See what I had to work with here... :)
The sun was really harsh...

After church, Saturday, some of the family came over for lunch.

After church.

Saturday was Macy's Birthday and today is Jacob's birthday so we celebrated with Macy's favorite cake.

I studied all weekend... I have 4 tests this week. I just finished the first one so three to go and then I'm on spring break.

In an effort to stay positive this week, I'm going to post something I'm thankful for everyday. I have a tendency to get cranky when I'm stressed and have to study nonstop... hopefully this will be a happy outlet!

So today, I'm thankful that my sister was able to come home. Even if I didn't get to see her much because I was studying.

Happy Birthday Macy and Jacob! Come back and visit us soon!

woes of a vet student.

Today, the sun is shining and it's a beautiful day.

My sister and her boyfriend are here for the weekend. They are on spring break and have been at the beach all week.
They are out shopping with my mom right now.

And guess what I'm doing?! Studying for all the midterms I have next week...

The end.
